    A lot of 4 issues of "Off Soundings" magazine, published by the United States Maritime Service during and after the Second World War for "
    unlicensed trainees who hope to sail all over the world on American Flag Victory Ships in deck, engine, cooks', bakers or stewards' departments.
    "  These magazines document
    training and activies at the USMS training station Avalon, Catalina Island, California.
    These periodicals are extremely RARE and difficult to find historical documents from the immediate post-World War II period.  At the time of listing, I can find no other issues on offer on ebay.
    These periodicals are 75 years old or older, and in varying conditions - some incomplete, some with damage.  See photos and item description.
    This lot of four issues includes the following (a photo of each cover - if present - is included in this listing):
    - Mar 30 1945, pages 1, 2, 7, 8 (cover) only, not originally bound.  Creased from multiple folds.  Some tearing along the creases.
    - Aug 17 1945, pages 3-6 only - cover missing, not originally bound
    - Aug 31 1945, Vol 2 No 8, 8 pages, not originally bound - discoloration on cover, bleeds through and visible to page 3.  Name of previous owner written in pencil on the back side cover.
    - Sep 14 1945, Vol 2 No 9, 11"x15", 8 pages, not originally bound, small piece of top right corner of cover is missing.
