Rather rare fine original historic June 11, 1939 New York Times special Sunday "Rotogravure" Picture Section, with England's King George VI and US President Franklin Roosevelt in Washington on the eve of World War Two.Many photos in the section's eight pages include war preparations and many personalities of the day.
Some personalities included are Queen Elizabeth and First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt riding in the open car to the White House, Marlene Dietrich, Britain's Prime Minister Chamberlain, US Ambassador Joseph P Kennedy, the royal ladies of Greece, Shirley Temple, and Donna Attolico, wife of Italy's ambassador, being escorted by none other than Adolph Hitler himself.
Also included are period advertisements, fashion photos, numerous photos of famous wives of diplomats etc., and a center picture section about the 1
939 New York World's Fair.
Pages measure about 24 by 16 inches, or 61 by 41 cm.
