This is both the standard issue and the "Invasion Extra Issue" of the Rock Island Argus newspaper for D-Day, June 6, 1944.  The headlines include: "Allies Gain 16-Mile-Wide Foothold;" "Cherbourg First Goal, Foe Says;" "Nazis Claim Early Success and Look for New Landings;" "Bridges Captured Before Defenders Can Destroy Them;" "Allies Crack Coastwall - Ferried by 4,000 Vessels;" "Churchill Reveals 11,000 Airplanes Sustain Offensive;" "Deep Penetrations Made by Parachute and Glider Troops."
The standard issue paper has 22 pages, while the Extra has 8 pages.

The cover of each paper measures about 17 X 21 1/2 in.  Newspapers were much larger back then, than they are today.
Condition:
Very Good to Excellent.  Damage is minimal.  They would look great framed as display pieces.
