    Description

    The Balboa Theatre located in the heart of Downtown San Diego was extremely popular from its opening night on March 28, 1924.
    It was large with big enough to house full time vaudeville acts.  It had an orchestra pit and a fly loft as well as screen motion pictures.  In the 1930's Spanish speaking movies.  During WWII the Navy housed sailors in the building former office space.  In the 1980's it was turned into a second run movie house. There were many people in San Diego who wanted to redevelop this beautiful theater, which was done January 2008.  This program is from the event that opened it.
