This beauty measures 11x7… Dating to approximately 1910 this is a beautifully colorful early celluloid over tin advertising sign from Western Union Telegrams. This rare sign likely spent its life standing up on the counter of a
Western Union
telegraph office around the turn of the century. Please note that although the sign was made to stand up on a counter, the fold out cardboard stand is no longer present. However the original hanging string is still intact. The sign can also be hung on a wall, the original string is almost always missing.
The overall condition is extraordinarily beautiful and bright with a great glossy finish on the celluloid. There is a tiny, tiny dent along the top edge. Hardly noticeable and not a big deal. There is also a couple of tiny specks of paint about the size of a pencil point. I have chosen to leave it but I’m sure it can easily be removed.
