Description
The 10 September 1945 edition of ''The New York Times'' newspaper. MacArthur issues a statement outlining his policy for the takeover of Japan. The same article reports that Japan's Premier misspoke when he claimed the Emperor's prerogatives remained in place. In reality, the surrender terms permitted MacArthur to assert authority over the Emperor. Another front page article brings good news for postwar employment, as job rates decline less than expected and remain significantly higher than they were before the war. Runs 32pp. Toning, chipping to left edge and Cleveland Public Library stamp to upper right. Very good.PAYMENTS
